1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization. If you don't agree, you must not use the Services.

2. What we provide

Better Trove Tools is a free, open-source toolkit built by and for the community of the game Trove - players, modders, and data miners. The Services include the desktop application, the browser-based web app, this website, and the Kiwi API. It is a hobby project maintained in spare time and offered at no charge. We don't guarantee that the Services will always be available, complete, or up to date.

3. Not affiliated with Trove

Better Trove Tools is an unofficial, fan-made project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to Gamigo, Trion Worlds, or any official rights holder of Trove. "Trove" and related names, logos, artwork, and game content are the property of their respective owners. Game data surfaced through the Services - leaderboards, market prices, rotations, updates - originates from the game's own public services and remains the property of its owners.

4. Eligibility & accounts

Some features - the Kiwi API, the developer portal, and giveaways - require an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your credentials and API tokens secret, and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, and at least 13 years old, to create an account.

5. Acceptable use

When using the Services, you agree not to:

• abuse, overload, or disrupt the Services or the infrastructure they run on;
• exceed, evade, or circumvent rate limits or access controls;
• access the API other than through the documented endpoints using your own token;
• resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute API access or bulk data without our permission;
• use the Services for unlawful purposes or to infringe the rights of others;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data;
• interfere with or probe the Services except as expressly permitted by the open-source license or applicable law;
• use the Services to cheat in, exploit, or harm the game or its players.

We may rate-limit, suspend, or revoke access (including API tokens) if we reasonably believe you are violating these Terms or putting the Services at risk.

6. The Kiwi API

The Kiwi API is offered on a free tier with scoped, rate-limited tokens. Scopes, rate limits, endpoints, and response shapes may change as the project evolves, and endpoints may be deprecated or removed with or without notice. Tokens are issued to you and tied to your account - keep them secret. We may revoke tokens for abuse, security, or operational reasons. The API is provided "as is", with no guarantee of availability, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.

7. Giveaways

From time to time we run giveaways through the Services. Unless a specific giveaway states otherwise: no purchase is necessary; entry requires an account; winners are selected as described on the giveaway and notified through the account or contact details provided. Prizes are provided "as is", are non-transferable, and have no cash value. We may modify, suspend, or cancel a giveaway at any time, and giveaways are void where prohibited. You are responsible for any taxes or fees associated with a prize.

8. Intellectual property

The Better Trove Tools application source is open source under the license in its public repository; your use of that code is governed by that license. The Services' own original branding and content belong to us. Game names, trademarks, artwork, and data belong to their respective owners (see section 3). Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in third-party intellectual property.

9. Third-party services

The Services link to and integrate with third parties - for example Discord and GitHub sign-in, Trovesaurus, donation links, and hosting and CDN providers. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

10. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any data shown is accurate or current. You use the Services at your own risk.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Better Trove Tools and its maintainers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Services. Because the Services are provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve months before the claim - which, for a free service, is typically zero.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services, in whole or in part, at any time and with or without notice, including for violations of these Terms or to protect the Services. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination - such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability - will survive.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
